NEWS: New star databases d05, D20, d50. The star databases h18, h17 will be phased out.
New star databases called d05, d20 and d50 have been released. Instead of a magnitude limit there will be a star density limit. These databases have been sorted on star density up 1000, 2000 or 5000 stars per square degree. This should guarantee that in star-poor-areas where there will be sufficient faint stars for navigation (solving). In star-rich areas only a limited amount of bright stars is included keeping the star database size moderate. If required this database will go down as deep as magnitude 21.
This will be beneficial for setups with a small field-of view. There should always be enough database stars available in for navigation in the sky..
Format is compatible with the H18. The database sizes for the d05, d20, D50 are 102, 400 and 873 mbytes. Use the usability graph below to select one database. Selecting a denser database has no real penalty except size.
J'ai fait un petit test comparatif entre la H17 et la D05 sur un champ de 0,62° x 1,02°
en "blind solver"
1ère valeur H17, 2e D05
amas ouvert NGC 2239 266,2s 266,3s
amas ouvert M50 116,6 116,6
champ avec comète E3 57,5 57,6
zone 05h32m 14° 147,8 116,9
la dernière image, sans objet particulier, est la seule où D05 s'est montrée plus performante que H17
à confirmer.....

C'est bien pensé comme approche. Fini en théorie les échecs de platesolv par manque d'étoiles.
